Tara Tan is a Singapore-based actor of Chinese and Thai descent. She was born in Bangkok and raised in Singapore by her Thai mother and Chinese-Singaporean father. Tara is trilingual and speaks English, Mandarin and Thai.
Tara is a proud graduate of School of the Arts, Singapore (SOTA; concentrating in theatre), as well as NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where she trained at the Atlantic Theatre Company Acting Studio and Stonestreet Screen Acting Studios, earning herself a BFA in Drama. While in New York, Tara was a resident actor (member of the BATS) at the obie award-winning Flea Theater and part of Jago Ciro Entertainment's Faces Division. She has been on several film sets - some of which with work that ended up at notable film festivals highlighting original work by women and by Asian artists in America - as well as in various productions at renown off-broadway theatre companies and affiliations (Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, The Flea, New York Theatre Festival). Outside of acting, Tara enjoys watching lots of movies, painting portraits of her two dogs and singing karaoke. |
